Guide To Foam Concrete Leveling

The Quick Guide To Foam Concrete Leveling

Denver’s Best Solution For Sunken, Uneven, Or Cracked Concrete

Some homeowners assume the only answer to uneven concrete is to replace it. But there’s an easier solution that costs about 50% less.

This page takes only about 3 minutes to read, but contains all the basics. By the bottom, you’ll have enough information to know if contacting us is the right decision for your situation.

First Things First… Is This The Solution For Your Problem?

Here are common signs and symptoms that foam concrete raising will work for you:

  • Sunken, uneven, or cracked concrete
  • Pooling water in low spots
  • Water flowing toward your home, when it should be safely draining elsewhere
  • Concrete has become a tripping hazard
  • Concrete slab vibrates or rocks back and forth
  • You feel a bump as you pull in driveway or garage

Foam leveling can fix uneven concrete anywhere inside or outside your home, including basement floors, driveways, garage floors, patios, porches, sidewalks, stoops, steps, and more.

Foam Concrete Leveling Vs. Other Solutions

If you have uneven concrete, you have 3 alternatives to CreteJack’s foam leveling.

Do Nothing

You could let it go for now, but this is probably the worst of all the alternatives. Besides how it looks, you are leaving a potentially costly safety hazard uncorrected. Almost as bad, if water is pooling in areas it shouldn’t or running toward your home, you are risking much more expensive damage.

Replacement

Replacement does solve the problem when done right. However, one big drawback is cost – it will typically cost about double compared to foam. The other significant downside is how long concrete replacement takes; the area often cannot be used for up to 7 to 10 days.

Some other key drawbacks when choosing to replace concrete slabs over foam jacking:
- Time: Replacing concrete slabs takes longer than foam jacking.
-Environmental impact: Foam jacking is less environmentally impactful than replacing concrete slabs.

Replacing concrete slabs involves removing the old concrete slab and pouring a new one. This is a more invasive process that requires more time and labor. However, it can provide a more durable and long-lasting solution.

Foam jacking involves injecting a special type of polyurethane foam under the concrete slab to lift it back to its original level. This is a less invasive process that takes less time and labor.

Mudjacking

This is the solution closest to foam concrete leveling. A mixture of water, dirt, and concrete is injected under the problem area. The cost is often similar to foam, although some companies charge more for it.

The disadvantages of mudjacking are:

  • It requires about a 2” hole to inject the material, vs. a 5/8” hole for foam. Concrete patches for the smaller holes blend in and disappear much quicker with CreteJack’s method.
  • It does not last as long as foam, which is a more permanent material.
  • Mudjacking requires a longer curing time than foam.
  • It’s messier; foam is the quick, easy, and cleaner method.

Okay, But How Come I’ve Never Heard Of Foam Concrete Leveling Until Now?

Many Denver homeowners have never heard of foam concrete leveling. You might be discovering it for the first time right here on this website. Because of that, some people understandably wonder if this is risky and unproven.

It’s not.

It’s been used for commercial purposes for two decades, and is a fully proven method. Over the last several years, this technique has been successfully applied as a residential solution, and its popularity continues to rise.
